NFL Game of the Week

Our NFL game of the week, this week, is Jacksonville vs New England. Now in the grand scheme of each team’s season, this game is not extremely important; however, it is each team’s first real test of the season. New England is going up against the best defense in the NFL. The Jacksonville defense just does not have a weakness. Calais Campbell, Yannick Ngakoue, Marcel Dareus, Malik Jackson combine to form one of the deadliest pass rushes in NFL history. If that isn’t enough, the jaguars have Abry Jones, Taven Bryan, and Dante Fowler in the rotation to back up that deadly pass rush. IF the quarterback manages to find time to throw the ball Jalen Ramsey and Aj Bouye patrol the field like hawks with a taste for pigskin. They were rated the best cornerback duo in the NFL last season. Finally Tashaun Gipson and Barry Church serve as the last line of the defense although they are rarely needed. Both are veteran safeties who each provide a different skillset. Although they may not be all-pro selections like the rest of the defense, they are crucial role players. This incredible defense faces a weakened Tom Brady and Bill Belechick. Julian Edelman, Brady’s number one target, is suspended. Jeremy Hill, the starting running back, recently tore his ACL. Aside from Rob Gronkowski, Brady’s only options are three aging wide receivers, and a converted running back; however, I have a feeling that the best quarterback of all time will find a way to make that work. The jaguars offense is going to struggle with production against this veteran New England defense that only got better this summer. Blake Bortles is average at best and is surrounded by 3 receivers with no clear number one and a thin running back depth chart with Leonard Fournette out. This game will be used as a benchmark come postseason, and both teams have something to prove. Who will emerge victorious.
